Meeting recap 31 October, and next meeting info

For those of you who couldn't make this last meeting, here is what happened: We had a look at the glaze tests we did last time, and decided which of the glazes to experiment with further. We agreed that doing testing when we meet is not the best use of that time, so we will each make up the tests in our own time, but fire the tiles together. The date to get your tiles in by for the next firing is Friday 19 November, and the place to put them is on a shelf at the back of the studio - relatively high up, on the right side of the racks in front of the wet cupboards. I will put up a sign to indicate which is the correct shelf! Any Cone 5 tests you would like to do are welcome, but the ones we covered in the meeting are still the clears and matts, so we can establish some good base glazes that we can then start adding colour to afterwards.

So here's what's happening next: The next meeting will be at 10am on Sunday 28 November, at the studio, and this will be the last official meeting for the year. We decided to have a shared lunch at the end of it, so please bring a plate. What we will be doing (besides eating):

- Reviewing the second round of tests
- Introduction/overview demo of the Matrix calculation software (on the projector)
- Kicking off another amazing ceramic initiative: Critical discussion of work. If you have a pot you would like to get feedback on (of any type), bring it along, and we will talk about these.

For anyone reading this who hasn't yet joined the group but would like to - please do! Anyone (well, any ASP member) is welcome to join at any time. Either post a comment on the blog to let me know you're interested, or just come along to the next meeting. (-:

Test firing by Graham

Hi all,

Graham will be doing a 1200ºC test firing in a couple of weeks, so if you have test tiles you would like him to fire, please get them to him (or leave them at the Centre for him) by Tuesday 14 September.
